Quick question

How is it that when John Kerry stands by the President in a matter of war, that means he doesn't have better ideas than Bush does, and when he doesn't, that helps the enemy?

If this fight against terrorism is made a fight between America’s two great political parties the American people know that one of those parties will be destroyed and the Republic cannot endure very long as a one party system.

The Case of the Missing Case

It seems like only yesterday Yaser Hamdi was so dangerous we couldn't let him see a lawyer, much less go before a jury. That at least was the President's claim. But when the Supreme Court said, sorry, W., we won't let you deprive a citizen of his liberty without any process whatsoever--we won't let you do like Charles I, who lost his head for this kind of thing--the President suddenly thought again.

Now Hamdi, instead of being too horrible to put on trial, is apparently going to be sent back to Saudi Arabia. Since we can't hold him incommunicado, we'll settle for keeping him out of the country, taking away his citizenship, and making him agree to some travel restrictions.

And John Kerry flip-flops?

Another joke. But if Hamdi really is as dangerous as we used to think, we've just sent a terrorist back to a country that promotes radical Islam.

We could die laughing.

Of Cats and G-Men

I take homeland security very seriously. I wish my government would.

Example: Today's security headline was that Cat Stevens was detained flying into this great country. This is actually quite a story, except it belongs in The Onion. What is Cat Stevens going to do--cast his Moonshadow on us?!

And it's worse than that: Not only has Cat Stevens somehow landed on the no-fly list (I guess he'll have to take the Peace Train in the future), but despite being on the list (along with certain members of Congress), he was able to get on a plane.

In other words, the Department of Hopeless Security wanted to keep a former pop star off U.S.-bound aircraft, but couldn't manage it. Hopeless indeed.

But at least DHS is still on a Cat-hunt. Osama means Cat, and the Macavity of terror is still on the loose.

Funny, isn't it.

We could die laughing.
